Kristine & Dan - July 28, 2007

UPDATE: Wedding images are available here!

UPDATE: The album preview is up! Click here to view it!

After a couple of well deserved weeks off, it was back to work for me! Saturday's wedding took place on Purdue's campus at St. Thom's. A few quick images of Kristine getting ready:

The composition, lighting and color all come together very nicely on this one, I think:

I'd noticed that Kristine was very emotional, becoming visibly moved during the events of the day, and I think it's great. A wedding is once in a lifetime, right? Awesome to be there and capture those moments. Just one, among others:

St. Thom's is always consistently easy to work in, with good natural light...

... afterwords was bird seed time! Took awhile to get that stuff outta the old hairdo! LOL

After the ceremony was finished and everyone relaxed, I was able to spend some time with Kristine and Dan. They are very comfortable and affectionate with each other.

This one is just some wackiness I grabbed outside the church with a wide angle. Just something I like about it, I'm not even sure I could say what it is...

Next we were off to various parts of Purdue's campus, I had plenty of opportunties for some nice candids:

And some group shots (I did hear a "Go I.U." in there somewhere...):

I'm very happy with the portraits of Kristine and Dan, very natural, very romantic:

One last candid before heading to the reception, some of Purdue's new architecture:

Our reception took place at Lafayette's Holiday Inn Select. There were several noteworthy moments throughout the evening, but I had to post one image that caught my eye as very humorous, from the garter toss event:

What exactly is going on there, Dan? LOL

The first dance:

And Kristine with her Dad:

Check back in soon for lots more!

Kyle & Josh - July 7, 2007

UPDATE: Wedding images are available here!

UPDATE: The album preview is up, finally! LOL Hope it was worth a couple extra day's wait! Click here to view it!

Yep. 07-07-07. It snuck up on me without my even realizing it! As many of you know, lots of weddings were planned for this unusual date, and I can vouch for the fact that there were multiple weddings on Purdue's campus that day. Before I talk about the wedding, I'd like to show a few images from Kyle's Bridal session that we did in June.

Most couples opt for an engagement photo session, but Bridal sessions are somewhat rare. I'm thrilled that Kyle wanted an in-studio session before the wedding, and I'm happy with the images we got. Here are just a few, with many more accessable through her collage page later.

This next one I shot in front of one of the new hand-painted backdrops (by LaDonna Vohar) we have in the studio. This one's sort of a weathered-distressed-industrial look. This one's a bit of an experiment, I thought the background would lend a modern, edgy feel to the image.

I like!

Ok, so the wedding took place on Purdue's Welcome Walk on Saturday afternoon. It was hot, but the weather was almost perfect for July. It began as an early day, and I have lots of good images from Christina and Company's salon where we kicked thngs off, but I wanted to start the images with this quick candid portrait of Kyle, I think it's just great:

Kyle was a little nervous before the ceremony, but she had two wonderful girls to help keep her mind off the big moment.

Even so, the jitters were there on the walk from the hotel room to the ceremony:

The ceremony was a great success, however, and I was asked to capture Kyle and Josh's recessional in particular, as it was one of the most anticipated moments of the day. Notice the ribbons the guests are waving; very unique and creative!

We spent lots of time getting some awsome stuff of the bridal party, this next one is a nice candid moment...

A quick one of Josh and Kyle:

As with any wedding there were plenty of interesting details, but I must say this is my favorite so far... the cake topper!

Kyle gets a little wacky:

The big entrance:

And their first dance...

And this is one of several I captured in he hallway outside of their ballroom at the Union....

The lighting is fantastic!

Very dramatic lighting in this one of Kyle and her father:

And a couple from the party, as Kyle dances the night away!

Thanks everyone for looking, and please stop back in during the next few days for more great images!

Leah & Joey - July 6, 2007

UPDATE: Wedding images can now be seen here!

UPDATE: The album preview is up! Click here to view it!

You may remember Leah and Joey's engagement images from a previous post, they are such a great-looking couple. Their wedding was last Friday in Greenwood at St. Francis and Clare.

They decided to see each other before the ceremony and do most of the formal photos beforehand. Like many instances when this is the case, they set aside a special moment for seeing each other for the first time.

One image of Leah waiting alone for her moment with Joey really stands out to me:

I think she looks very elegant.

When the moment came, there were sparks in the air...

I also used the opportunity for a couple quick portraits right after.

I stood on a nearby bench and with a wide angle lens and with Photoshop achieved an interesting result for this one:

Next we spent a little time with bridal party inside the church. There are many good images, here are just two for now.

The church is newer, which is not always a big plus as a photographer, but this one photographed quite nicely. This first image just caught my eye, and with a little Photoshop I think it's very moody and interesting:

These next couple represent the most exciting moments of any ceremony to me:

A very sincere ceremony...

... with some very humorous moments as well. I was all smiles, too!

A few small emergencies aside (Leah's dress had a few ideas of it's own after they were pronounced man and wife), our happy couple was finally married and had a chance to celebrate for the first time.

After that first "baskstage" toast, the reception started and their official entrance was very enthusiastic.

I already went on and on to Leah about how much I loved her lanterns at the reception, so I used one of her dance pictures that feature them on her collage. Here's another with her Dad:

These are just a small sample of many great images I was fortunate enough to capture for Leah and Joey. I enjoyed the day very much, surrounded by very courteous and caring families. Please check back in soon for more exciting images. Here's one more until next time:

A little behind...

My wife Tara was involved in a pretty good-sized car accident yesterday. SHE"S FINE, but she was taken to the hospital as a precaution.

I've lost a little ground on my projects as a result, so it looks like deadlines will most likely be pushed back one to two days as a result. Thanks.

Maggie & Avery - June 30, 2007

UPDATE: Wedding images up here!

UPDATE: The album preview is up! Click here to view it!

Saturday I was in town for one of those rare (these days) Lafayette weddings! LOL

Maggie and Avery were married at West Lafayette's Federated church. I LOVE this location due to the balcony and it's wall of natural light (more on that later).

Maggie was already all smiles when I arrived:

And like most brides, she recieved plenty of attention:

A nice one of Maggie while her mom helps with her jewelry...

This one is simply a pure candid that I caught very quickly. I noticed the lighting before anything else when I shot it, and it's still what draws me to it...

Ok, so about that balcony I mentioned... A whole wall of windows along with an overcast sky combine to make great lighting. This is another candid I was able to grab of Maggie very quickly:

After the ceremony I always follow the bride and groom in hopes of capturing a nice, emotional moment...

...or two...

These next two are pure candids, but I couldn't have set the shots up better.

An excited couple make a grand entrance...

And this one speaks for itself, I think:

Our best man did a very nice job with his toast...

... however, our Maid of Honor stole the show!

A nice, quick portrait from the hotel's lobby.

And one of my favorite "kiss" photos from the day:

The guys had a small surprise in store for Avery:

Maggie didn't seem to mind, I think she knows her groom well enough to know he doesn't agree with the sentiment!

And to wrap things up for now, one of the bouquet toss that I really think is fun!

Thanks, everybody and stay tuned, there's lots more to come later this week!
